Ozil not ruling out Schalke return

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil is not ruling out a return to Schalke at some point in his career.

Ozil joined Schalke s academy in 2005, but left for Werder Bremen in 2008 before going on to join Real Madrid and then Arsenal.

Despite speculation linking him with a move away after a season in which he was the target of considerable criticism, the Germany international is expected to sign a new contract with Arsene Wenger s side.

But on talk of a possible return to Gelsenkirchen, Ozil told the Funke Media Group: Right now, I m not thinking about it. But in football you cannot rule out anything.

My family would be very happy about a return.

Schalke is my absolute favourite club, I m still a big fan. After all, I grew up with Schalke.

Newcastle United 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur: Three Things We Learned

Newcastle United moved three points above the relegation zone as they scored a late equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur at St James Park on Sunday.

Joelinton had initially given the hosts a shock lead as he made Spurs pay for some shocking defending in the first-half. However, their advantage did not last long as Harry Kane hit two quickfire strikes to complete a speedy first-half comeback. On-loan Arsenal man Joe Willock in the end secured a point for Steve Bruce s men though, converting from close range in the 85th minute.

Here are three things we learned from the game:

French interior minister blames ´ticket fraud´ for Champions League final chaos

The French interior minister has said fraud at an industrial level regarding tickets was to blame for the chaos seen at the Champions League final in Paris on Saturday.

Gerald Darmanin also expressed regret for the lack of organisation as the game between Liverpool and Real Madrid was delayed by 36 minutes.

Darmanin alleged that thousands of fake tickets had caused a situation whereby fans were unable to enter the Stade de France, causing a delay to kick-off.

Police fired tear gas at Liverpool supporters waiting to enter the stadium, with some of these altercations filmed and shared on social media, and the UK s culture secretary Nadine Dorries has urged UEFA to launch an inquiry into the incident.

UEFA insisted that fans of the Premier League club …

´He can watch games from Los Angeles next season!´ – Tuchel jokes Boehly could be an unlucky charm

Thomas Tuchel joked Todd Boehly can watch Chelsea games from home in Los Angeles next season after the Blues once again failed to win in front of their incoming new owner.

Boehly was present at Stamford Bridge on Thursday for the Blues disappointing 1-1 draw with Leicester City in their penultimate Premier League game of a mixed campaign.

The American billionaire, alongside Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjorg Wyss, is reportedly close to finalising a £4.25billion takeover from Roman Abramovich.

But he has yet to see the Blues win up close, having also been in attendance for defeats to Real Madrid, Arsenal and Liverpool, as well as draws with Wolves and now Leicester.

While Chelsea have struggled to perform in front of Boehly so far, Tuchel hopes …

Villarreal to consider Ranocchia

Villarreal might turn to Inter s Andrea Ranocchia to solve their defensive problems, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 30-year-old centre-back has been linked with a possible departure from Giuseppe Meazza for a long while now. He joined Inter from Genoa in January 2011, and he has made a total of 188 appearances for the Nerazzuri since then. However, he has hardly played under manager Luciano Spalletti, who currently prefers the duo of Stefan de Vrij and Milan Škriniar in the heart of defence.

A number of clubs have been credited with interest in Ranocchia, but at the moment it seems the most serious competition Villarreal would face for his signature would come from Sassuolo, who are also in strong need of defensive reinforcements.

Rooney lauds ´incredible´ Suarez but wants ´hungry´ players for D.C. United

New D.C. United coach Wayne Rooney hailed Luis Suarez as incredible but insists he will only sign players who are hungry .

Manchester United and England great Rooney left Derby County in June, having overseen a difficult period for the club during his first job as a manager.

Everton were previously linked with their former academy product, but the 36-year-old opted to return to old club D.C. in MLS, where he played in 2018 and 2019.

D.C have been linked with a plethora of potential signings after their big-name appointment, with former Liverpool and Barcelona forward Suarez among those.

Suarez is a free agent after ending a two-season stay at Atletico Madrid, where he won the LaLiga title in the 2020-21 campaign, and reportedly wants to build-up his fit…

Benteke switches Palace for D.C. United as he links up with Rooney

Striker Christian Benteke has signed for D.C. United from Crystal Palace as he joins up with Wayne Rooney in MLS.

The 31-year-old has penned a two-and-a-half-year deal in the United States capital as he leaves the Premier League after 280 appearances in which he scored 86 goals.

He arrived in England 10 years ago, joining Aston Villa from Belgian side Genk before going on to score 42 times in 89 Premier League appearances for the Midlands club.

His prolific spell there earned him a big-money move to Liverpool, but he could only manage nine league goals for the Reds before making a switch to Palace in 2016.

Although he scored 15 top-flight goals in his first campaign at Selhurst Park, the Belgium international never quite recaptured his Aston Villa form a…

El Clasico must cater for fans in Asia and United States, says LaLiga chief Tebas

LaLiga president Javier Tebas believes compromises must be made regarding El Clasico kick-off times to cater for viewers in Asia and the United States.

Since Tebas appointment in April 2013, LaLiga fixtures have been staggered in an attempt to maximise viewing figures across the globe.

The decision to stage matches on Mondays led to protests from supporters, forcing the Spanish Football Federation (SFF) to intervene earlier this year and scrap games taking place on that day.

And Tebas suffered another blow when the clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona was moved from Saturday October 26 to Wednesday December 18, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm CET.

That means viewers in Asia staying up into the early hours of the morning on a midweek day, but Tebas ins…

Wolves reach Matheus Nunes agreement

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reached full agreement over the proposed transfer of Matheus Nunes from Sporting Lisbon, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The deal with the Portuguese club was reached on Sunday, with the fee set at €50 million with add-ons, and now the player has agreed personal terms with Wolves as well. All that remains for him is to undergo the medical, which has already been scheduled, and sign the paperwork.

There were plenty of reports crediting Premier League clubs with interest in the 23-year-old, but Wolves obviously acted as the most determined one and the in-demand midfielder is now set to join Bruno Lage s ranks.

Nunes joined Sporting s Under-23 side in 2019 and earned first-team promotion a year later. He scored eight goals and produced …

Ivan Perisic has returned to Inter with desire and enthusiasm, coach Antonio Conte said amid transfer talk about the attacker.

Perisic is back with the Serie A giants after spending 2019-20 on loan at Bayern Munich, where he won the Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.

The Croatia international, who arrived at Inter from Wolfsburg in 2015, has again been linked with a move amid reported interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

But, ahead of Inter s Serie A opener against Fiorentina on Saturday, Conte said Perisic had returned with a renewed determination.

I am happy for Ivan, because in the end he had an incredible experience with Bayern Munich, a winning one, in which he won three trophies, he told a news conference.
